Motivation

The API gains DELETE /api/organizations/{organization_id}/sub_accounts/{sub_account_id}. The SDK covers listing and creating sub accounts but not deleting them.

Changes

  • SubAccounts.deleteSubAccount(organizationId, subAccountId) – sends the DELETE request, returns nothing on success
  • javadoc notes the permission requirement, that the deletion is permanent, that deleting the last sub account deletes the organization, the 404 on a repeated call and the 10 requests per minute per organization rate limit
  • SubAccountsExample deletes the sub account it creates

How to test

  • client.organizationsApi().subAccounts().deleteSubAccount(orgId, subAccountId) with an existing sub account – returns without an exception, the sub account is gone from getSubAccounts(orgId)
  • call it again with the same id – HttpClientException with status 404
  • call it with a sub account id from another organization – HttpClientException with status 404
  • call it with a token that only has sub account management permissions – HttpClientException with status 403
  • call it with an invalid token – HttpClientException with status 401
  • run SubAccountsExample with MAILTRAP_API_KEY and MAILTRAP_ORGANIZATION_ID set – it lists sub accounts, creates "Acme Marketing", deletes it and prints Sub account <id> deleted
  • mvn javadoc:javadoc – the deleteSubAccount entry renders in SubAccounts

Companion PRs

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added the ability to delete an organization sub-account. Deletion permanently removes the sub-account’s data, and deleting an organization’s last sub-account also deletes the organization.
    • Organization admin permissions are required, and the Organization & Sub-accounts feature must be enabled. Deletion is limited to 10 requests per minute per organization; concurrent deletion may return an error, and deleting an already-removed sub-account returns a not-found error.

Walkthrough

The sub-account API now supports deletion by organization ID and sub-account ID. The example deletes the sub-account it created, and a test covers the DELETE request.

Changes: Sub-account deletion

Adds deleteSubAccount, which sends a DELETE request to the organization’s sub-account endpoint. The test asserts that the call does not throw. The method documentation describes permissions, deletion effects, repeated-call behavior, and the rate limit.
Example usage
examples/java/io/mailtrap/examples/organizations/SubAccountsExample.java
The example deletes the sub-account it created and prints a deletion message.

Explanation

The title "add sub account deletion" matches the main change: a new SubAccounts.deleteSubAccount method that sends a DELETE request, plus its javadoc, tests, and example update. It is short and specific, and a teammate scanning history would understand the primary change.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

No eligible functions found in the changed files. Skipping docstring coverage check. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 0 functions across 4 files.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description follows the repository template. It has Motivation, Changes, How to test, and Images and GIFs sections. The Motivation and Changes sections clearly state the new DELETE endpoint, the new deleteSubAccount method, its javadoc, and the example update. The How to test section lists specific, verifiable steps covering success, 404, 403, 401, example output, and javadoc generation. The Images and GIFs section is omitted. That section is not applicable to this Java SDK change, so this omission is minor. The description also lists companion PRs and notes that the backend endpoint is already in production. The PR objectives say the endpoint is not yet in production and that the backend change must ship before merge. That conflicts with the description and should be clarified. The How to test items are unchecked, which is expected before testing.

Confirm the in-app sub account example matches this change.

This sample now shows deleteSubAccount and its admin-permission requirement. The Mailtrap app shows equivalent code examples to users. Confirm whether those in-app examples are still accurate, or update them to match this sample.

As per path instructions, "If this change modifies public code samples, client initialization, method signatures, parameters, sandbox options, or the install command, leave a comment reminding the author that the Mailtrap app shows equivalent code examples to users and may need a matching update. Ask them to confirm whether the in-app examples are still accurate."

Assert that the DELETE request is sent.

test_deleteSubAccount passes even if deleteSubAccount never calls the HTTP client, because TestHttpClient does not check that mocks were used. The existing mock lookup already fails on a wrong method or URL, so only the invocation needs a check. Record mock invocations in TestHttpClient and assert the DELETE invocation in the test.

Add a test that a 404 from deleteSubAccount reaches the caller.

The current implementation propagates the client's HttpClientException. The Javadoc documents that a repeated call fails with 404. test_deleteSubAccount covers only the success path, so an implementation that suppressed the 404 would still pass.

TestHttpClient and DataMock cannot specify an error status. Add a separate test that makes the delete call throw an HttpClientException with status 404. Use a Mockito mock, as ApiTokensImplTest does, and assert that the exception reaches the caller. This keeps the shared TestHttpClient unchanged.

Note the admin-only delete in the example's run requirements.

The example creates a sub account with a management permission token, then calls deleteSubAccount, which needs organization admin permission. A management-only token runs the create, then gets a rejected delete, and the example exits. The created sub account stays in the organization. Line 21 lists only the management requirement, so a reader of the example's header sees no admin requirement for the whole run.

Suggested fix
// Requires sub account management permissions for the organization.
+ // The delete step at the end also requires organization admin permissions.
+ // With only management permissions, the created sub account is not deleted.
         final var allSubAccounts = client.organizationsApi().subAccounts().getSubAccounts(ORGANIZATION_ID);
